Introduction to Project Management Modules

...the first step toward certification

Introduction to Project Management is comprised of a total of 8 modules, each covering specific aspects of product management in theory and practice. For each of these modules there will be:

Written assignments

There is at least one written assignment in each module. These assignments will range from case studies to answering questions or problems from the text.

Class discussions

For each module, you will be asked a discussion question. In addition to your initial response, you will also need to reply to at least one other student's post, and answer any follow-up questions from your instructor.

Module quizzes

Each of Modules 1 - 7 closes with a Module Quiz which covers all materials and lectures / study guides from that Module.

The Course Project

The course project is at heart of the entire course, spanning all modules, and providing you with a hands-on opportunity to apply the skills you acquire in each module. You will design your own project, based on real world experience. Once you have created your project, you will:

• create a scope statement
• develop a work breakdown structure and assign durations to the tasks and dependency relationship
• create a Gantt Chart with the critical path identified
• identify necessary resources and related costs
• identify possible risks to the project and have contingency plans for them
• identify performance variables for the project
• prepare the necessary project reports

A final exam

The exam consists of multiple choice and short answer questions, covering all modules.
